Hello!
As a beekeeper and landscape designer who happens to be allergic to bee stings, I’ve always been fascinated by the mystery of honeybees! How can the same small creatures capable of harming me also help sustain life on Earth by pollinating the very food we eat?
Filled with curiosity, I polished my camera lens and began capturing the hidden beauty of flowers, bees, and other pollinators in my own backyard.
This book grew from those years (over 20!), and from a desire to share the hidden brilliance of the natural world all around us. Like the earthworms and beetles I encountered along the way, I hope you'll slow down and join me on this journey of discovery!
Why I Wrote This Book
The Brilliance of Honeybees is my love letter to the natural world—and a humble call to action. First and foremost a photo book, these pages explore the remarkable partnership between flowers and pollinators, capturing moments of beauty and magic that most of us rarely stop to see.
Across six colorful chapters, you’ll find personal reflections from my own meadowscaped backyard and simple, practical steps anyone can take to become a guardian of the garden. Together, our small choices can help keep gardens blooming, food growing, bees buzzing, and nature doing what it does best.
Who This Book Is For
This book is for anyone who loves gardens, nature, photography, or simply learning how the living world works. My hope is that these pages invite all of us to look a little closer at the bees visiting the flowers outside our doors.
You don’t need land, a hive, or special training to help pollinators thrive. Small acts of care—planting flowers, protecting clean water, and welcoming wildlife into our gardens—can make a real difference!
Thank you for exploring how these small but mighty creatures feed the world.

This Earth Day, discover the hidden world in your own backyard and witness the brilliant partnership between plants and bees… then become a “Pollinator Protector” and help care for the living world we all rely on!

This book isn’t just about honeybees — it’s an invitation to become a Pollinator Protector: someone who cares about clean water, fresh air, healthy soil, and being a thoughtful steward of the Earth.
As a community, Pollinator Protectors look closely at the unseen wonders that create our food — not just out of curiosity, but so future generations can enjoy them too.
Whether you live in the country, the city, or somewhere in between, step outside and explore what you can do to become a Pollinator Protector in your area. Even small steps, taken together (bring a friend!), can have an outsized effect on the world we live in!
